Swimming pool demolition of the following type: (Type A and B are only suitable for future landscaping on the site. Type C is necessary if any future construction at the site is contemplated) Type A: This method is only suitable for future landscaping use of the site. The swimming pool will initially be broken in three places: (i) Shallow end, 3' x 3' hole. (ii) Transition from shallow to deep end, 4' x 4' hole. (iii) Deep end, 4' x 4' hole. The sides of the pool will then be broken down two feet from the top edge. All debris from the break out will be left in the pool excluding the steel rebar. The pool will be backfilled with clean fill from local excavations. The backfill soil will be compacted every six inches. The site will be pressure washed and vacuumed. Type B: This method is only suitable for future landscaping use of the site. The entire pool is to be removed from the site. All of the gunite, or fiberglass, or vinyl and any plaster, tile and coping debris are to be demolished and removed. The pool will be backfilled with clean fill from local excavations. The backfill soil will be compacted every six inches. The site will be pressure washed and vacuumed. Type C: Total pool/spa removal, with engineered backfill and oversight by a soils engineer during backfill and compaction process. This method is necessary if any future construction over the site, or within five feet of the site, is contemplated, and when dictated by local code. The entire pool is to be removed from the site. All of the gunite, or fiberglass, or vinyl, and plaster, tile and coping are to be removed from the site. A soils engineer will be hired to engineer the backfill, which Bjurman Corporation will install to the engineer's specifications. Average price for engineering has been about $2000.00.
